Mushroom Swiss Burgers Recipe

Ingredients:

For the burgers:

  • 1 1/2 pounds Lean ground beef
  • Salt and pepper
  • 3 tablespoons Butter (For browning)
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese (For topping)
  • 4 hamburger buns (For serving)

For the mushroom sauce:

  • 1/3 pounds Mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon Shallots, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Parsley, chopped

Directions:

For the burgers

  1. Shape 4 equal parts of hamburger meat into patties. Salt and pepper both sides.
  2. Heat a black cast iron skillet until almost smoking.
  3. Add the patties and cook about 3 minutes or until nicely browned on one side.
  4. Turn patties over and cook an additional 2-3 minutes, or until they are as browned as you like.
  5. Remove the patties from the skillet and place on a warm serving platter. Keep hot.

For the mushroom sauce:

  1. Drain fat from the pan.
  2. Heat the butter in the same pan and add the mushroom when the butter is hot. (Watch the butter, don't let it burn.)
  3. Cook the mushrooms while stirring, until they are tender and the liquid from the mushrooms has evaporated.
  4. Add the shallots and parsley and stir to blend, keep warm.
  5. Assemble the hamburger on the bottom bun and top with 1 slice of Swiss cheese.
  6. Pour the mushroom sauce on top of burger, close burger with top bun, and dig in!

Serves 4.
