Cajun Fried Mushrooms

These Cajun Fried Mushrooms are perfectly seasoned, and fried to a golden brown. Dipping in buttermilk helps the batter to stay on while frying.

Cajun Fried Mushrooms Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces Mushroom
  • 1/2 cup Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon Paprika
  • Pepper to taste
  • Cajun seasoning to taste
  • 1/2 cup Buttermilk

Directions:

  1. Combine the flour, salt, mustard, paprika, pepper and Cajun seasonings in a large bag. Shake well to blend. Set aside.
  2. Place the buttermilk into a small bowl.
  3. Dip mushrooms in buttermilk a few at a time, and place in the bag with the seasonings. Shake bag well making sure all of the mushrooms are coated.
  4. Deep fry the mushrooms until they are golden brown.
  5. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve with BBQ sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce.

I always used to have a problem with my coating not staying on the meat or veggies. Since I started using buttermilk, not only does the coating stay on much better, it also adds a great flavor.
