Black Walnut Bars

Black Walnut Bars Recipe

Ingredients:

Bottom Layer:

  • 1/2 cup soft butter
  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed

Top Layer:

  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 Tbsps. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1-1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped black walnuts

Frosting:

  • 1-1/2 cup confectioners sugar
  • 2 Tbsps. melted butter
  • 2 tsp. lemon juice

Directions:

Bottom Layer:

  1. Combine and press firmly into a greased 9-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

Top Layer:

  1. Mix together sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Add eggs, vanilla and black walnuts; blend. Spread evenly over baked layer.
  2. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool.

Frosting:

  1. Blend until smooth. Spread over cooled bars.
