Black Walnut Bars

Bottom Layer:
1/2 cup soft butter
1 cup sifted flour
1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed

Top Layer:
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
2 Tbsps. flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 beaten eggs
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chopped black walnuts

Frosting:
1-1/2 cup confectioners sugar
2 Tbsps. melted butter
2 tsp. lemon juice


Bottom Layer: Combine and press firmly into a greased 9-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

Top Layer: Mix together sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Add eggs, vanilla and black walnuts; blend. Spread evenly over baked layer. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool.

Frosting: Blend until smooth. Spread over cooled bars.
