Chewy Chocolate Cookies Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 C. butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 C. all-purpose flour, un sifted
  • 3/4 C. cocoa
  • 2 C. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 C. nuts, finely chopped

Directions:

  1. Cream butter or margarine and sugar in large mixing bowl. Add eggs and vanilla extract; blend well.
  2. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; gradually blend into creamed mixture. Stir in nuts (optional).
  3. Drop by teaspoonful's onto greased cookie sheet.
  4. Bake at 350ºF for 8 to 10 minutes.
  5. They will puff up during cooking, then flatten upon cooling. Cool on cookie sheet until set (about 1 minute).
  6. Remove to wire rack to cool completely.

Recipe yields about 4 1/2 dozen cookies.
