Stuffed, Rolled Round Steak and Gravy

This recipe for round steak is so juicy and flavorful! Stuffed with onions, garlic, bell peppers and more. Rolled up and then cooked on the stove top, or in the oven. Serve this delicious steak and gravy over rice or potatoes.

Stuffed, Rolled Round Steak and Gravy Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 large round steaks
  • 2 tbsp. garlic
  • 1/4 cup onion chopped
  • 1/4 cup bell pepper chopped
  • 1/4 cup celery chopped
  • 1/4 cup green onion chopped
  • 1 package Lipton Onion Soup Mix
  • 1 medium onion sliced

Directions:

  1. Season steak to taste with salt and red pepper.
  2. With a meat mallet pound the steak to tenderize.
  3. Spread in a mixture of onion, garlic, bell pepper, celery and green onion.
  4. Roll and place toothpicks to hold roll.
  5. Method One - Stove top - Brown the steaks in a heavy pot with about 2 tablespoons of oil.
  6. Add water and cook over medium-low heat for about 1 1/2 hours or until tender.
  7. Serve with rice. One sliced onion may be added when browning the steak
  8. After stove top browning, this dish may be cooked in the oven covered at 350 degrees adding sliced onions to the water mixture.
  9. Method two - Oven Bake - Preheat oven to 350 degrees - add oil to a cast iron pot.
  10. Season steak to taste with salt and red pepper.
  11. With a meat mallet pound the steak to tenderize.
  12. Spread in a mixture of onion, garlic, bell pepper, celery and green onion.
  13. Roll and place toothpicks to hold roll.
  14. Bake for one hour covered. At the one hour or 45 minute interval (depends on size and thickness of steak) scrape the drippings.
  15. Add the sliced onion, one packet Lipton Onion Soup Mix and one cup water.
  16. Cook an additional 30 to 45 minutes until meat is tender.
  17. Serve over rice.
