Fourth of July Cookies Recipe...June 28, 2004
Hi Y'all,

Another great recipe to rate! Add your own, and I will post it in the newsletter for others to rate it, and I'll post the rating in a future newsletter.
Enjoy your day, today's newsletter, and our offers!
The Spicy Sonorian Meatloaf recipe received a rating of 4, that's almost perfect!
Today's Recipe:

Fourth of July Cookies

1 c Flour
1/4 ts Almond extract
1 ts Vanilla
1/3 c sugar
3/4 c butter, softened
1 c Semisweet chocolate chips
1 c Slivered almonds

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Cream butter and sugar together using an electric mixer at medium speed. Add vanilla and almond extracts and mix thoroughly. Add flour, chocolate chips, and almonds and mix till just blended (don't overmix)

Use an ice cream scoop to drop the dough onto ungreased cookie sheet ( this ensures the cookies are uniform in size). Press cookies down using the palm of your hand

Bake for 10-20 minutes of until golden in color.

NOTE From Duckie: This is a favorite recipe in our home. I do not know whose recipe it is but I wanted to share a favorite with your readers.

Southern Trivia-You know you're in Louisiana if...

You actually burn your hand opening the car door.

It's hot. It's humid. It rains. Those are the only 3 weather patterns we have here.

No one eats healthy. Fried Batter is actually a menu item in some restaurants.

No one uses turn signals.

Kitchen And Helpful Tips:

You can add a splash of Spanish sherry to canned soup to jazz it up a bit

Try stewing prunes in tea instead of water. It can give them a much better taste.

If you have over-whipped your whipped cream, try folding in a few tablespoons of milk.

If your custard looks like it is going to curdle, pour it fast into
a cold bowl.
