    UGLESICH’S RESTAURANT COOKBOOK

“Mr. U’s eighty-year-old lunch-only culinary mecca [is] a Garden District monument to New Orleans eating, where the sublime renditions of Cajun-Creole staples beat the pants off the competition; disciples dream of being spoon-fed shrimp Uggie 24 hours a day and would fight Mike Tyson for the BBQ oysters, which is why limos regularly pull up outside this ramshackle, decrepit seafooder and the wait is mind-numbing.”

--Zagat 2004 New Orleans Restaurants & Nightlife Guide

First opened for business in 1920, Uglesich’s Restaurant has become one of the premier destination restaurants for locals and tourists alike. Over the years, the restaurant has gone from its humble beginnings, serving po’ boys, fried seafood, and breakfast, to offer gourmet-quality New Orleans food, attracting culinary critics from around the world.

For many years, patrons have clamored to take home a piece of the restaurant. Uglesich’s Restaurant Cookbook gives all those who have fond memories of the restaurant a taste of New Orleans at its freshest. This highly anticipated cookbook, written by the owners’ son, contains seventy-five old, current, and new restaurant recipes along with a complete history of the establishment and the Uglesich family.

About the Author

With the tremendous number of requests from customers for a piece of Uglesich’s they could take home, John Uglesich was inspired to write this cookbook. A graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans, he is an avid supporter of Tulane athletics and manages stock portfolios in New Orleans.
