Gooey Butter Cookies

1 box butter cake mix or yellow cake mix (2 layer size)
8 ounces cream cheese softened
1 egg
1 stick butter
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Mix all ingredients together. Chill dough at least 2 hours. Roll into 2 inch balls and roll in powdered sugar. Flatten with fork on un greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar after they have cooled.
Note: You can also add 1 cup butterscotch chips to the batter.
Makes approximately 50 cookies.
