Southern Trivia

You might be from Louisiana if...

You can pronounce Tchoupitoulas but can't spell it. (also, Thibideaux,
Opelousas, Ponchartrain, Ouachita, Atchafalaya)

You're not afraid when someone wants to "ax you something."

You pronounce the largest city in the state as "Nawlins."

When giving directions you use words like "uptown," "downtown," " backatown," "riverside," "lakeside," "other side of the bayou" or " other side of the levee."

Stay tuned to the next newsletter for other Southern trivia, and be sure to visit our Cajun Jokes Page!

Kitchen And Household Tips:

When buying fish, look for firm, moist fillets and avoid fish that is bruised, yellow, brown or strong-smelling.

Defrost sealed frozen food in the refrigerator on a plate instead of on your kitchen counter to prevent bacteria

Don't refreeze things once they've been defrosted, like ice cream for consistency and meat or fish for safety.

Don't use marinade that the meat was left in for basting. Instead, make extra beforehand to use when you cook.
